The Keri Japan Gravel is a pair of jeans from Livid, $289 at retail. 13.8 oz Collect wideloom, grey warp.

It reads casual without reading sloppy.

Tagged Nordic minimal and denim, and down for everyday, work and weekends — those are the occasions the builder will actually put it in front of you for.

Look 01 · Raag

A raag is a framework, not a song — a set of notes you are handed and expected to improvise inside. This outfit is built the same way. One extraordinary object and four ordinary ones, chosen to make it survive a Tuesday. The Chintz Chore Coat is matka silk with Zardozi embroidery and rates 2 out of 5 for warmth — not a winter coat, a winter garment. Everything under it does the work: the merino carries the heat, the 13.8 oz Livid Keri grounds the silk before it tips into costume, and the Konseal keeps it real. Formality runs 4 at the shoulders and 2 at the ground, and that drop is the point. Kartik Kumra answered 2025's 50% tariff on Indian goods by putting Ahmedabad hand-embroidery on the Paris runway rather than moving production offshore. The tariff has since gone; the hand-work has not.

SkipThe Rabari Leather Blazer at $1,700. If you buy one Kartik piece it is the chore coat — the leather is beautiful and carries none of the story you are actually paying for.

Look 15 · The Markdown

Every issue from here gets one of these: a look built entirely from whatever is genuinely trading under retail the week it ships. This is the first. Four of these five are discounted right now. The Breithorn is Summit Series — what The North Face makes for people actually on a mountain — at $336 against $480, with the Nano Puff under it at $209 against $299. Both are synthetic, which matters more than the saving: they stay warm wet, and a puffer that fails in the rain is not a bargain. The Livid Keri is $172 against $289, the deepest cut in the catalog on a piece anybody would want at full price, and the 1906R is $100 against $180. Head to toe this is $831 against $1,262 — $431 saved, on an outfit nobody would guess came from a sale.

SkipWaiting for a deeper cut on the 1906R. It has sat near $100 for weeks and the size run is thinning; on resale, a good ask that stays put means the floor has been found.

The rest of the fit

One garment per remaining slot, chosen the way the builder chooses: occasion overlap, formality that holds across the fit, warmth that agrees with itself, and the layering rules that stop a collar ending up under a hood. Head to toe with the Keri Japan Gravel: $1,867 at retail.
